HPScanjet 4570c

Hi,
I thank everybody who tryed to help me into the past but unfortunally my
scanner still doesn't work.
Sorry, i placed it als on the forum of print_fax_scan as more persons are
looking on the vista.general one.

The scanner is working on my old ME-pc ...

To who has working the HPscanjet 4570c the following question:
-What is mentioned within the map C\Windows\Twain_32 ?

I have a map hsj_002 with the corresponding file and further a hpqgends.tmp
file

Why is there a tmp file??

Ik have Vista Premium Home and as SW only the related Vista drive is
installed.
First i installed the SW and secondly connected the scanner....with
installed with success.
The scanner can be seen into the application SW but e.g. trying to activate
the scanner in Irfanview i receive the message Twain error?

Thanks

Regards
Huib

Your scanner is pretty likely to work with VueScan, as it accesses the
scanner directly, bypassing Windows. You may even find that the standard
TWAIN driver works after installing it, from what i have heard from people
with this problem. Use the trial and see if this works..

ss. Hi,
Although my scanner HPscanjet 4570c was not mentioned in the list : it
performed the scanning.

The scan on the PC was ok but the print was full with "dollar signs"?? What
is the reason?
At least this proves that my scanner connection is ok and that by now rather
for sure there is a Vista problem with the Twain driver.

The package is freeware ... so i will have to purchage it what i am not
intended.

When you say that the standaard Twain-driver may help, where can i found
that one.

The dollar signs are there as watermarks, as it the trial version. You need
to buy the program to get rid of those. If you do a lot of photograph or
negative/slide scanning, VueScan gives better resukts than any OEM software.

With an old scanner like your, it is very unlikely that there ever will be
Vista drivers for it.

I meant the TWAIN driver that HP supplied. After VueScan has been installed
it still doesn't work?

Hi,
Maybe there is a little misunderstanding.
There is a driver available for my HPScanjet 4570C and the different
application SW is dedecting the scanner but no action.
In the twain folder i have in my old ME-pc a file: wiatwain.ds file which i
don't have in my twainfolder of Vista after executing the drive and
connecting the scanner.

Do you have any idea where that file can be found, i want first to try
solving that problem.

Maybe you missed my sentence but indeed the scanner is working with Vuescan
but i see no reason why the other application SW should work by now
(probably i misunderstood you).

regards

Is it actually a Vista driver?

If your scanner is pretty old, which I think it must be, I doubt HP will
ever make a Vista driver for it.

Some people have reported that their scanners, for which no Vista drivers
are available, start working fine after VueScan has been installed. I don't
know how this happens.

I suggest you either buy VueScan, or a new scanner for your Vista machine.
Or just use your scanner with your old computer.

ss. Hi,
Thanks for the information.
Unfortunally i am not between the happys one's that it works after
activating Vuescan (i deleted for that even the twain folder )
It seems i will have no other choice when my ME-pc is gone.

The package seems indeed to work very good.
I do not like to give my creditcard number via the internet.
Are there other means to purchage it?

That's what I've been telling you in the other thread. Microsoft does not
enable TWAIN in WIA. I suppose you could try copying that file to the VISTA
installation but why not go to HP and download the XP Software that will
install TWAIN. If it does not try the antique Deskscan 2.9 software as I
suggested in the other thread.

I doubt it. Millions of people are buying things online these days and it
is safe when you take sensible precautions.

Hi,
I moved already the file wiatwain.ds from my ME to Vista but no help.
I intalled also the XP sw from the site but my system crashed and it took me
a lot of effort to clean it up again.

Probably i missed your suggestion to try the antique Deskscan 2.9 sofware.
I will try it for sure and keep you informed.

I don't know any reason fro that to happen if you use Compatibility Mode, Run
as Administrator and maybe also disable the WIA in Services before you start.
