HP LJ M1220nMFP PCL5 Drivers

Hi
I've replaced an HP Laserjet 1100 with an HP Laserjet M1120n MFP mono
printer/scanner/copier.

I've tried to print from a non Windows based software programme, but
it will not work. I've spoken with the software supplier who said
it's because the LJ1100 had PCL5 drivers and the M1120 doesn't.

I've spoken with HP, who suggested I ask on Google.

Any help please.

Every printer needs driver software, so we need more details
about the non-Windows software that failed to print. E.g. Linux
instals printer drivers in the OS (which work for all printing)
but MS-DOS requires separate configuration drivers for each
application (e.g. Lotus 123 and WP). Which did you use and
what drivers or config. files were installed?

Shows that this model uses host-based print drivers. Not PCL or PS. My
guess from the OP is that his application directly supported PCL
itself which the 1100 understood and which the 1120MFP does not. Looks
like the OP needs to get another printer which natively supports PCL.

Hi, this is what my software supplier said, but when I telephoned HP
In Warranty support, BEFORE registering product, they said I could
download a PCL5 driver.

He emailed me a link to Experts-Exchange.com, with the following
message:

"The above link should assist you with downloading the PCL 5 driver.
What you could do is to try and google for PCL drivers.
Google should bring up a few PCL drivers."

The Experts-Exchange.com requires subscription which I shouldn't need
to pay, as I did ask HP before registering.

But you're not getting the key point. Your application DOESN'T use the OS
drivers. That's the key point. It sends out PCL5 code directly to the
printer port. If the printer does not natively interpret PCL5 you're hosed.
That is what you have with the 1220, plain and simple. You need a printer
like your previous one which natively supports PCL5 in its HARDWARE.

Thanks for the info, I understand now. HP Tech left me to believe
that it would work if I downloaded the PCL5 driver. Obviously it will
not.
