HP all-in-one; usbscan.sys?

Having problems installing software for HP 1220
print/copy/scan. Print and copy functions are fine, scan
does not work. HP tech support directed me to new install
software which does not recognize connection of device.
Found some information on Microsoft site about potential
problem with usbscan.sys file and compatibility with XP
and some all-in-one devices. I'm hopeful I'm not the only
one who's gone down this road and I would really
appreciate any feedback or information anyone may have.

Jeff,

I am having the same exact problem! I just purchsed the
hp psc 1210. with the same usb problems so PLEASE if you
figure it out please let me know.

I have just installed this all in one on my daughters computer---Windows XP
Home. No problems BUT it is essential that you follow exactly the HP
instructions for installation. There is a 16 page help folder on the HP web
site dealing with installation problems Enter in your product name and
model and follow your nose
