HP 7350 photosmart printer problem with text

I have an HP 7350 photosmart printer attached to a stand-alone Compaq
Presario running Win98/Office 98. For the first two months printing
was fabulous. Now, I am not able to print text. Pictures, PDF files,
HTML files all print without a problem. When I print text from Word,
Excel, Notepad, etc, I have a shadow around all of the letters. It is
not necessarily a shadow of the letter - but a line above, below,
beside each character.

HP support suggested I change the font type to Ariel to see if there
is any difference - nothing changed.

I have adjusted the print quality, cleaned the ink cartridges,
calibrated the printed, and went through the clean option in the HP
tool box. No change.

Any suggestions? I hate to have a repair bill on a printer that is
less than 2 months old that printed under 50 pages.

Try reinstalling the drivers. I just helped a friend with her printer
problem. The first thing I did was reinstall the drivers. Problem solved -
no extra troubleshooting required. I would *always* start there if you are
having printer problems, and it functioned fine before.

<<You might try reinstalling the printer drivers. Does it print text
from
the html files? It sounds like a software problem. It could be the
drivers or something else in windows.>>>

I can print text in PDF, HTML, etc. - just not from Word, Excel,
Notepad, etc. Seems like the graphical print is fine - just unbridled
text throws it out of wack.

Great! I'll reinstall the drivers **while holding my breath and
crossing my fingers**.

Thanks for the input!

Sounds like a software problem. Remove and reinstall from the CD.
Also download the latest drivers from the HP site and try that.

Maybe a virus.
