how to upgrade a website to FP 2003 from FP 2000 (different comput

I made the website on Frontpage 2000 on my desktop (OS Windows 98) and now
have a laptop with FP 2003 (OS Windows XP) on it. I have put the website on
a cd from the desktop and am trying to open on the laptop to upgrade and
update the website. The error message I receive says, "server error: the
server extensions were unable to access the file
'd:\igniteinternational.org\website\_vti_pvt\service.lck' Please check the
file permissions. Contact your ISP or web server administrator for more
information."

How can I open the website to make updates/changes? Basically, I want to
transfer the website to my laptop so I can do all future editing, etc. from
it.

1. You don't upgrade the website, you just open in latest version of FP.

2. You really needed to publish the site between machine, and not have copied it via CD to your
laptop.

Under Windows 98 how were you working on your webs, as disk or server-based? Which version of
Windows XP do you have installed on your laptop?

Copy the website to a folder on your laptop. Browse to the folder
with Windows Explorer, then remove the Read Only attribute from every
file and folder in the website.
Then open the site in FrontPage.
Files copied from a CD will always be read only.

- my question to your answer #2 - how do I publish between machines?

- on Windows 98 (on the desktop), I was working on disk, not server-based.
All the info is in a folder in the hard drive.

- Windows XP Home Edition is the OS on my laptop

In Windows Explorer, create a folder on your hard disc where you want
the web site located.
Browse to the CD, and select all files and folders associated with the
web site.
Drag the selected files and folders to the new folder on your hard
disc.

I'm sorry, this is a very basic question. Where is Windows Explorer on XP?
I have it on Windows 98, but have never seen it on XP.

Start->Programs->Accessories->Windows Explorer (right click and Pin
to Start Menu)
Or Start->My Computer (in the right hand column)
Or on the keyboard, Windows (start) Key+E
