How to update with only power user rights??

Joe

With new updates coming out daily, we are trying to setup
the SUS to help us maintain updates. I have the server
configured and it is syncronizing and all that good
stuff. The problem i am running into is the client
side. We have a company of about 100 users and the ones
on XP professional are no administrators, they are either
powers users or restricted users. I have been able to
setup the policy on my local machine to go out to the SUS
server and download the updates from there
automatically. Does anyone have a solution on how to
update those other 100 computers automatically?? And
while being able to keep the users as power users?? I
have tried to look this up but have found nothing. any
help would be appreciated.

Thank you

This is documented in the "Software Update Services Deployment White Paper"
(SUS_Deployguide_sp1.doc).

Download link found under "More Information" at

Yes, SUS supports that.

Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:

microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

URL to the group softwareupdatesvcs for those who uses the Web
interface to access the newsgroups:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsser...t.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

A Web site about SUS with a FAQ and a SUS forum:
