How to terminate / disable a system service

H

hanxue

There is a system service which needs to be disabled, or at least the
process killed. I have tried logging in as administrator and even then
I am unable to terminate it.

The Stop / Pause option for the service is grayed out. Is there any way
around it?

Thank you in advance.

Some services don't want to be stopped; sometimes, these can be killed
from the Task Manager or with TASKKILL.

The kosher method is to disable the service and reboot. Care to
elaborate which one you are concerned about?

What is the service? and the concern?
Some services are required to be in Automatic startup.
