How to stop Spellchecker from separating words into syllables?

When Spellchecker locates a word not in the dictionary, it gives suggestions
that are divided into syllables using spaces. When I select the appropriate
suggestion, the correct word in inserted into my document with the syllabic
separations.

How can I get Spellchecker to suggest words that aren't separated?

It's not suggesting words that are "divided into syllables using spaces."
It's suggesting separate words. When you have typed a compound word that
Word doesn't recognize, it suggests the component parts, assuming that you
have run them together accidentally.

What version of Word are you using? I've never seen anything resembling that
behavior, and I've used *every* version of Word for Windows. Are you using
some kind of add-on?
