how to stop Sent items appearing in Inbox

Outlook 2007 - I use this at work, and Sent items appear separately from the
Inbox. On my laptop, however, only a few messages appear in Sent Items, but
all appear in the Inbox, being 'From' 'Myself'. I find this a little
confusing, how can I stop it happening?

Which mail account type are you using?
Are you sending mails from other applications or are you using the New
button in Outlook?

I'm using gmail. Sometimes I use the New button, but if I'm replying to an
email, I simply click on the Reply button at the top of the email.

Via POP3? That is how Gmail works. See;

As an alternative you could configure it as an IMAP account instead.

Ah, I see now - its gmail that does it, not Outlook!
