How to stop QuickTime from playing back movie clips within Internet Explorer?

I always like to have the Media Player launch itself and play back movie
clips when clicking movie links on the Internet. After the installation of
Quick Time, when I click movie links, QT plays movie clips within the
Internet Explorer. I don't like it. I spent some time trying to figure out
how to fix the problem but couldn't find a solution. Uninstalling QT is not
an option because I recently bought an iPod and it seems that QT is
automatically installed along with iTunes. Can anyone help?

Control Panel > QuickTime > Browser Plug-in > MIME Settings (may depend
on the QT version).
