Got a question for you experts....I do use messenger at times and would like
to keep it installed for this reason. I do have it configured to "not"
start automatically when windows starts and have disabled the Messenger
applet within Outlook and Express as well as IE but I have noticed within
Norton Internet Security's "Log Viewer" that the messenger service is trying
to start...it reads: An Instance of C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
is prepairing tp access the internet for the first time. This shows up
every 2 minutes or so.
Also, I noticed the mouse cursor (arrow) change every two minutes or so so I
went into Windows Task Manager and noticed that low and behold, every few
minutes, Messenger is trying to access...msmsgs.exe!
I know there has to be a way...either through the registry or the inf to
stop this constant attempts to access the internet....I want it to run only
when I say so...not when the program wants it to!
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
