How to stop chkdsk

XP Home with a problem. Intending a Repair Install, it has the CD in, and
starts to boot from it, .

However, it is set to do a scheduled chkdsk on bootup; but there seem to be
errors causing it to crash and/or reboot.

It doesn't get far enough to attempt a Repair Install, so not sure if it's a
Windows problem or a hardware glitch.

Any ideas? If it's booting from the CD, how is it doing the scheduled
chkdsk?

Any ideas on how to stop the scheduled chkdsk?

Try this:
chkntfs /x /<driveletter>
or in a DOS-box type chkntfs /? for all other parameters.
