Pretty difficult to understand what you've got going here but try making a
boot floppy. An example of boot.ini to try is below. For the floppy to
successfully boot Windows NT the disk must contain the "NT" boot sector.
Format a diskette (on an NT machine, not a DOS/Win9x, so the NT boot sector
gets written to the floppy), then copy ntldr, ntdetect.com, and boot.ini to
it; and possibly ntbootdd.sys
[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\winnt "drive0part1"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\winnt "drive0part2"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\winnt "drive0part3"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\winnt "drive0part4"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(5)\winnt "drive0part5"
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(6)\winnt "drive0part6"

| Hello All
|
| I am in real trouble this is my situation.
|
| On my Toshiba PC which was running Win NT 4.0 workstation I have
| some critical configuration and it only 3 partitions:
|
| 2500 MB C:
| 1500 MB D:
| 8 MB unassigned
|
| BootItNg installed itself onto to the 8 MB free partition. I was able
| to resize partition C: and D: and release about 2.5 Gb between both of
| these partitions but not sure how I can merge two free partitions into
| one contigous partition on BootItNg. I had one partition of 1.3 GB
| called
| it as XP and another free partition called it as XP2; partition XP was
| marked as Multi OS and FAT32 so with XP2. Now I booted XP from a
| CD-ROM
| at time of booting and chose to install XP on the partition XP and it
| finished copying XP files and asked me to remove the disks and
| rebooted
| after rebooting appears I have lost my Windows NT 4.0 workstation from
| the boot menu all I see is a system error which says ntldr missing or
| something like this and asks me to fix it and reboot.
|
| I restarted Windows XP boot from CD rom and choose repair all it does
| is
| come back with the D:\Windows DOS prompt not sure what I am supposed
| to do after this.
|
| I did C:\ to see what happened appears I do not see any directories or
| files in C:\ but the original D: drive on Windows NT is intact as
| XP install stuffed my Windows NT install can I recover my Windows NT
| install.
|
| Also please advice how on BootItNg I can combine two free partitions
| into one.
|
| Is there a way for me to recover my NT workstation boot menu and get
| back to Windows NT back.
|
| Thanks
| Belinda
