How to set up an out of office reminder?

How can I set up either a pop-up or email reminder for the out-of-office?
There should be a way to set up a start and end date. Am I missing
something?

The Out of Office Assistant is only available for Exchange accounts. When
you connect to an Exchange 2007 server and use Outlook 2007, then you can
schedule it as well.

Check with your ISP as many offer "vacation" messages for their users. And
you don't need to leave your computer on, Outlook open, and have an active
internet connection. Plus, it saves energy.
