how to set outlook as default mail ?

When I click on a web page that has a (mail-to link) such as a person’s email
address so I can send a message, if I click on it I would like to use outlook
as it is set as my default email. But when I click on any kind of links it
always goes to (Google Gmail) for me to use to send email, why? and even if I
set outlook as my default in tools-options-programs-email-calendar-contacts-:
I have them all set up as default. Any help would be great. Thank you.

What browser? Did you install something to make gmail your default?

The following is an issue with Windows, not Internet Explorer:

"Read Mail" button does not work in Internet Explorer
