how to reinstall search companion

Search companion has disappeared from my computer. When I
click on it either of these 2 boxes comes up: a file
required to run Search Companion can't be found may need
to run setup or Please go to control panel to install
and configure system components. I don't know how to do
either of these. At this site:

Q319949 package when i click on this , this box appears:
Setup has detected that the Service Pack version of the
system installed is newer then the update you are applying
to it. You can only install this update on a computer with
no Service Packs installed. What in the blazes do I do?
This computer came with Windows XP pre installed so I do
not have the WindowsXP home disc. Please can anyone help

Go to the hidden folder Windows\inf and in that find and right click on
srchasst.inf and take install. It will find the files needed either in
the folder of SP1 files made when SP1 was installed or by asking for
your CD

By an XP CD from the manufacturer of PC or go to nearest store
to get a full version of XP (£140)
