How to reinstall Access2000 after I upgrade to Office2003

I just upgraded my computer from Win2k professional to XP Professional and
Office from 2000 Small Business to Standard Edition 2003. I have an upgrade
version of Access 2000. Do I have to buy the upgrade to Access 2003 as well?

If Access 2000 is what you want to continue using, try to install it. If you
can't install it as an upgrade to Standard Edition 2003, try putting the CD
for your Office 2000 in the CD drive to see if it will recognize that and
install. If not, I suspect you will need to get the upgrade to Access 2003.

If you do install Access 2000, be sure to install all the Service Packs (I
believe there are two) and all the Service Packs for Jet 4.0 (I believe
there are eight). There's also a Service Pack for Access 2003, which may be
included in the one you buy, but visit the Office Update Center (it's an
option from Windows Update) to make sure you have all the patches.

If the OP goes the Access 2003 Upgrade route, he should be aware that no
version of Office 2003 seems to be a qualifying product for that upgrade.
However, Office 2000 SBE is, so he should be sure to hold on to those SBE
disks for "proof of eligibility" during installation (and any possible
re-installations in future years).
