How to recover administration password

It's been a while since I went on my laptop and I forgot the password to the
administration account. I have Windows XP home edition that came with my
laptop so I don't have the "password recovery disk" or Windows XP disk. I
have asked many people but so far no luck. Is there anyone that can help me?

If you have forgotten your password, if you have another user account
with administrative privileges you can log into that account and change
your original user account's password from the User Accounts applet in
Control Panel. If you don't have another account like this set up or
don't have the password to it, you'll need to log into the built-in
Administrator account. In XP Home, boot the computer into Safe Mode. Do
this by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up.
This will get you to the right menu. Navigate using your Up arrow key;
the mouse will not work here. Once in Safe Mode, you will see the
normally hidden Administrator account. The default password is a blank.

If you reset the built-in Administrator account's password in Home and
don't remember the password, use NTpasswd to change the built-in
Administrator account's password to a blank.

Then go to the User Accounts applet in Control Panel and set passwords
that you will remember and make other desired changes.

I can't login to any accounts to be able to attempt this. I am getting stuck
at the Windows Login screen, and when I input my only known user name and
password, I receive the error message 'Your account has been disabled. Please
see your administrator'. I have tried accessing via the inbuilt system
administrator profile, however the blank password is not accepted and I know
of no other administrator password (I purchased this laptop secondhand 18
months ago, through the trading post). Can you help me please?

You posted to a very old closed thread. Next time make a new post. Use
NTpasswd to change the built-in Administrator password to a blank.
