How to reassociate favorites?

Through the process of setting up a wireless lan and
installing Earthlink, I have now lost my favorites list
and links from my IE browser. They do still exist on my
hard drive in their usual Favorites folder -- is there
some way I can reassociate the browser with the folder,
or do I have to reimport them one by one?

I reinstalled IE 6, but that didn't resolve it.

Check in the Registry that the value is correct. Use Regedit
(Start-Run-Regedit)

You can change the value of Favorites in the Registry in these
two keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell
Folders

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User
Shell Folders
