How to make PPT Hyperlinks show on web

Hi,

Wondering if someone can help. I am trying to use a ppt presentation in a
website, where i need to keep the web functionality. My PPT prez. has
hyperlinks embedded to go to other PPT slides, or to other apps, but when i
upload the file to the web, the hyperlinks do not work.

I have tried to convert PPT file to a gif, which then allows me to create
hotspots where i want the hyperlinks to be on each gif (one per PPT slide),
but if i make any little change to a gif, i have to re-do ALL the hyperlinks
on that gif (not a good option).

Is there any other way to deal with this?

Thanks!

Sounds/Movies don't play, images disappear or links break when I move or email a
presentation

Are you using the presentation as a PPT file on your site or are you first
converting it to HTML and uploading that?

Are the slide links to other slides within the same presentation or to slides
within other presentations?

The links to other apps will probably never work on the web (they point to apps
on your computer; when I'm viewing the presentation on my computer, they still
point to your computer. That's a non-starter. ;-)

In some cases, ie, a link to NOTEPAD.EXE (notepad's on the path on most every
computer) it may work, but generally no.

I have tried to convert PPT file to a gif, which then allows me to create

If the "slide as image" trick works reasonably well for you, our commercial
addin, PPT2HTML (http://ppt2html.pptools.com) will do the hotspots
automatically for you. There's a free fully functional demo.

Hi Steve!

Yes,I tried to upload my prez as a PPT file by first converting to html, and
the hyperlinks dont work. I then tried the 'converting file to gif' option,
and as mentioned can create the hotspots, but if I want to make changes, i
have no choice but to redo all the hyperlinks........which is a pain in the
*&£$!

The hyperlinks are to other pages in the same PPT file, and in fact when i
said some of the links are to other apps - they are in fact to a Lotus notes
'teamroom' not on my own computer. It works perfectly from the PPT file
itself (just not when its uploaded on the site). (website is an intranet
within the company i work so teamroom links are accessible).

Yes the "slide as image" or gif will work fine i think (the ONLY thing that
makes it a no go at the mo is the effort to 'redo' all the hotspots if you
make one change). So the commercial addin you mention sounds very promising.
Havent yet gone to the site you mention........but are you able to say here
how much it will cost? I assume its not free!
In the meantime I will have a look at the functional demo.

I know the pain, even if I spell the location differently sometimes. <g>
Odd that the links don't work in the HTML converted by PPT itself.
Ah ... is Javascript disabled on your browser? ISTR that all the links are
done as javascript.

The demo is! Do I get points for that? ;-)
To register, it's $70.
