How to link to another Outlook Contacts folder?

When transferring my outlook.pst file to my laptop (in the
/DocsSettings/name/LocalSettings/Apps/MS/Outlook directory), and replacing
the "new" one that Outlook creates when it is first initialized
(File/Open/PST), I am successful in getting new email to download into my
transferred INBOX (in Email Accounts), getting sent mail posted to the old
SENT folder, and draft files in the DRAFTS folder. However, I have not been
successful in finding where Outlook hides the ability to make my old Contacts
folder (with all my correspondents and their email addresses) become the
Contacts folder that Outlook is willing to use.
I've uncoupled the 'default' set of "Outlook Today" folders so that the
only PST I see in the Folder List is the one I've brought over from my other
computer; my filled Contacts folder is there ((I can select it, add new
contacts, etc). However, when I create a new email message, Outlook can
never "find" these contacts; it insists that the Contacts folder is empty, so
I have to do a laborious "cut and paste" for each email address.
When I go to the Address Book/Tools/Options, and try variously the Add and
Delete choices, I can never select my full Contacts folder; it keeps
re-creating an empty one.
Where do find the menu option to allow me to point Outlook to my existing
Contacts folder?
Many thanks! Paul
