How to install WMI?

I just bought a Wyse 9450XE Windows XPE box, but it doesn't seem to have the
Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service installed. How can I
install the WMI core and related components? I read about something called
the "Target Designer", but I don't have such a tool. The unit didn't come
with a CD that I can find to do any "building" from. Do I have to create a
whole new image for this machine? And if so, why is this so difficult? I
don't understand why WMI wasn't built into this machine to begin with. It's
such a basic component.

Sorry for the rant. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

You would need to use Target Designer to recreate the image. Why wasn't it
in your build? You'd have to ask Wyse. They created the OS for the unit
and apparently decided not to include WMI. The nice thing about XPE is the
fact that you don't need to include everything in your build. You can omit
things either for space reasons or for functionality reasons (locking down
the functionality of a box).

Thanks Gordon. I'm starting to understand the embedded philosophy, but it
would have been nice if Microsoft would have allowed you to add a component
without having to rebuild a whole image. :) If Wyse says "We didn't
include WMI for such-and-such a reason.", I guess I would need to re-create
the image. How do I get this Target Designer? Would I have to buy a
"developer" copy of WinXPE?

They have something called a "base image" with a small file with an .rsp
extension and a large one with an ".i2d" ext. I suppose I could load one of
these into Target Designer and just add the WMI components I needed?

Thanks again!
