how to install drivers to unrecognised plug and play devices

i have just had this problem and I seem to have worked out how to do it.
Worked for me but no promises for you....

I went to device manager
double clicked on item
reinstall driver
specify location
browse
drive c
windows
inf

click ok

drivers installed from inf file - success

Really nothing miraculous. That has always been theh way to do it.

Maybe, but when I asked the question in a thread above, no-one told me how to
do it. now ive worked it out i thought it might be useful to others in the
same situation.
