How to get the smallest file size possible?

How can I save my presentation so that it will be the
smallest possible file size? I want to place the file on
the department web server so that others may download it
from various locations, but the current file size is 60 mb
and takes dialup connections out in the field a long time
to download.

Thanks!

I recommend your read the following PPT FAQ entries. The first one will help
you make sure that your PPT environment is set up correctly. The second one
will directly address the file size issues.
Do this before using PowerPoint seriously

Why are my PowerPoint files so big? What can I do about it?

The most common causes of oversized PPT files are having the Fast Saves
option turned on and having overscanned and oversized photos and graphics in
your presentation. Solutions to both of those are offered in the second
link.

Try using Impatica for PowerPoint http://www.impatica.com/ for reducing
size of the file for uploading to web server. This program typically reduces
file size 90-95% (really, it's true) and speeds up streaming time. The
program is not free, but has a special price for Educational Users. End
users (your students) may view the files directly in their browsers or you
may post the file as a downloadable .jar or.html file.

Enjoy viewing,

Tom
