How to speed up printing?

I have succesfully reduced the size of my presentation - through otimizing
the slide master, reducing picture sizes etc. - and now the presentation is
down to 204 KB - as opposed to the original 9+ MB.

BUT - still it takes forever to print in color....

What are the tricks to print fast?

When I look at the print queue - the small 204 KB file swells up to 9 MB
when printed. How is that..? And what is there to do?

I seem to have the same problem with Word-files /swelling up at print time).

It's always a trade off between quality and speed with printing.

If you lower the resolution (dpi) when printing then things will print
quicker.
But the quality will be lower.

Look for transparent fills, especially several layers of different fills.

Where do I specify the dpi of my print job..?

Clearly printing to high-res is waste - so I want to find the limit, where
it is still acceptable.

And - why does a 500 KB file swell up to 5 MB in the queue?
