How to get screen to dim on batt?

Brett Romero

I'm using WinXP Pro. I have an NVidia card in my laptop. When on battery,
the screen doesn't dim. I've set the power mizer Nvidia feature to use
minimum but still have full brightness. Any suggestions how I can get the
screen to dim?

Thanks,
Brett

Check your BIOS settings. Many laptop BIOS's control the backlight
directly. Careful in there though.

Control Panel, Performance & Maintenance, Power Options,
Portable/Laptop.

You select this from the first tab - Pwer Schemes (first drop down
list).

My keyboard controls for backlighting use to never work. Now they do. So
great! I'll just adjust manually as I like the brighter screen (easier to
read). Good to know I can tone it down if I need to.

Thanks,
Brett
