Can't seem to get the screen brightness to stay as bright when I unplug it,
onto battery power. Have changed the power setting to desktop and still dims.
I had the same problem with an Inspiron model. When you go on battery, you may need to use the FN+Brightness keys to increase the brightness. This was the only solution I could find that worked.
You might look in the BIOS to see if that has a default setting you can
adjust.
