How to get HP7310 a-i-o to copy borderless?

I have an HP 7310 all-in-one printer which (apart from the HP
bloatware) works reasonably well.

However I'm trying to get it to copy a photograph to a smaller size
(from about 9"x6" down to 6"x4") using the copy function. According
to the manual this should work without any hassle but even following
the instructions carefully it prints a 3"x4" picture in one corner of
the 6"x4" paper.

I am using (and selecting) Photo Paper, setting Photo quality, etc.,
etc. Is there anything else I can try to get it to work?
