How to Force USB Flash Drive to Mount

L

ll

An old SanDisk USB flash drive will not mount on either
the Home/SP2 computer or the Pro/SP2 computer.
A newer USB flash drive mounts on both.
[I do _not_ want to dwell on what caused this.
I know. There are 3 of us who use these computers.]
I would like to know if there is some way to force a mount.
There is nothing on this old flash drive that needs to be saved.

If it is not seen on a few computers where other drives are it seems likely
that it proves the saying that nothing lasts for ever.

Please explain the technique you use to run chkdsk/scandisk on a drive that
isn't detected.

try a chkdsk/scandisk and have it to automatically check for errors

Before you start to think that there is a problem....load Disk Management
module (Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Computer Management/Disk
Management) and see if this drive is visible there. If it is not seen here
then there is a problem but if you see this drive there then maybe there is
No Drive letter assigned to this drive due to a) missing partition, b) drive
letter conflicts with other drive assigned to a Mapped Drive.

If the drive is seen in "Disk Management", but not in "Explorer", and you say
that there is nothing to save on it, try to partition/format it.
