How to force a specific host to be Master Browser on home lan

On a home network of several computers, how can I force 1 host to
always be the `Master' browser when it is up?

specific browser the preferred Master Browser. However in this case
I'm looking for a way to tell a specific computer that it is NOT the
preferrred browser, or better yet, which host is the preferred master
browser.

I want a linux samba server to always be elected as preferred master
browser.

In your smb.conf there is the option to make your Linux box the master
browser. Edit smb.conf to make this option "yes". If you turn the Linux
box on first, it will always be master browser.
