How to fix/re-create mbr/boot xp info?

Kris

At some point a while back my mbr (1 drive - 160gb sata) ceased to boot xp so
I've been using osloader2000. I think it was back in the area of the time
that I was trying to install Linus on a second drive (IDE)(long since gone)
and it installed lilo or grub or something on top of it.

Short of migrating everything off to DVDs (6 partitions) and then cleaning
and re-initializing that drive and then re-creating everything again, is
there an easier way?

(For tools I have Acronis true image, and 7tools partition manager)

tia!!!

The "fixboot" command is fine but the OP may need
to run "fixmbr" as well if his Master Boot Record is
damaged.

Just a thought, did you ever set up the Acronis Secure Zone or activate
the Start Up Recovery Manager?
If the latter, this would obviously change your boot sequence (MBR).

I don't believe so for either of those.....

Huge thanks.

Would I do fixmbr first, or second.

These are both in R recovery console, right?

(my cd is a slipstreamed cd with SP1 and 2)

THANKS!!!
