How to delete IE address bar entries

I used to be able to shift-delete the entries (mostly URLs) in the
drop-down address bar at the top, individually. Now I can't. Is there
a setting somewhere that maybe got changed that I can change back? Or
something else?

That's not what I'm after....and I use to be able to delete the entries
one at a time. I use the address bar to jump to a few select sites that
I use often. It's fast and easy. I would very much like to get that
option back.

typed urls are stored here and can be deleted individually

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\TypedURLs
