how to delete an autoformatted line

i typed a series of asterisks (*) and a line formed that I cannot get rid of.
I think this may have something to do with autoformat, but how do I remove
the line?

Doing that applies a border to the bottom of the paragraph. To remove it,
place the selection in the paragraph immediately above the border and access
the Borders and Shading dialog and go to the Borders tab and click on the
None item.
