How to control curly brackets?

| Am placing a "nested if" in word mailmerge doc. I can insert the bracket
with
| Ctrl+F9. Problem is I end up with too many or not enought brackets to
| complete statement. When I try to delete bracket, have to deltete the pair
| and all statements between. Bet there is something real simple I am
missing,
| but I can't find it.
| Thanks for the help!

The best approach is probably to plan the field code before inserting it. You
can type it on a piece of paper, for example. That way, you minimize the risk
for errors.

Note that even if you do make mistakes, you don't have to delete statements.
You can use cut and paste to move them to the proper location.

The brackets must be inserted in pairs. While they can be nested, they can't
be overlapped. That is, with the numbers representing the bracket:
1 2 2 1 OK
2 1 1 2 OK
1 2 1 2 not OK
