How to avoid showing item count for folders

I would like to configure some of my folders not to show an item count -- not
unread items and not total items. Is that possible?

(In particular, I find it annoying to see the "unread items" count on my
junk e-mail folder, I would rather just check it once a week and not have the
unread count tempting me.)
