email count beside a folder

I am using Outlook 2003 SP3 on a Vista. Outlook lists, in parentheses, the
number of unread messages in a folder under the mail folders list. (Example:
Inbox, Junk, Deleted Items) Is there a way to stop this? I would like this to
be a folder specific action. In other words, have the number posted beside
some folders but not others (that i specify).

You can either show unread or total counts. This is per folder - right click
on each folder and choose properties to change it. If you use unread and
mark all messages read, then no number will show.
