How get "free" software from PC Magazine?

R

Regal

I used to subscribe to PC Mag here in the UK until the UK edition
was closed down.

Now I can't download files like FileSnoop unless I pay an anuual
subscription (and in my case I won't get the mag delivered to the
UK).

The popup on this web page
http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,8391,00.asp
says the PC Magazine Utility Library is now restricted.

How can I get this utility and other similar PC Magazine utilities?

You have to subscribe, that's what I did. The software on their site is
worth it to me.

Stuart,

Since these items are no longer "on topic" in this newsgroup, my only
advice, other than subscribing, is to do a Google search for the titles
you are seeking. It will take some time and effort on your part, but
there are still some sites on the web that have a few of these programs
available for download. Once you find any them, I would definitely make
backups for archive purposes. Good hunting!!

It make take time and effort check that this software is listed on
Pricelessware and it would seem is actually on topic.

On-topic is a matter of *personal* definition. You are advised to expect
flames if you post about ware types other newsgroup participants
consider off-topic. See:

http://www.pricelessware.org/2004/posting.php

PCmag programs *were* freeware - some are listed on the Cumulative
Pricelessware List. All PCmag programs are listed on the program
*information* pages. PCmag programs are noted: $W = no longer freeware.
No freeware versions available.

Sort this page's table by author to see the complete list of PCmag programs:

My sub would cost me more as it would have to be a UK sub. It
isn't worth all that extra. And I may not even get a magazine
either.

DadiOH, I recognize you from the MP3 groups. You have posted some
great help for me there in the past. You have a lot of good links
(I remember something I think you called "goodies"). Keep it up.
It is much appreciated.

Ahhh...a familiar face as it were :)

It's "dandies", see below.

Thanks Mark,

I do appreciate the help. I uploaded revised pages today - 2896 programs
listed now. . .

If possible I'm linking to program descriptions rather than downloads -
just did a quick search - this link displays several versions of Windows
media encoder:

ugly, isn't it. . .

Regal,

here is a link that contains a few of the PC Mag utilities including
FileSnoop 1.0. There are some other items that may interest you as well
