HOW FORWARD EMAIL & NO DOWNLOADING OF PICTURES

G

Guest

I have OUTLOOK 2003 and WINDOWS XP.

I need to forward certain SPAM emails to the Security Department of two
companies who investigates the sender who is sending these phony emails
pretending to be the company.

I have activated the DON'T DOWNLOAD PICTURES in OUTLOOK'S AUTOMATIC PICTURE
DOWNLOAD SETTINGS so I don't make contact with the spammers server when
viewing the email.

But when I need to forward the email, OUTLOOK's forwarding action downloads
the pictures letting the spammers know that my email address is an active one.

Is there any setting or method that will prevent downloading of pictures
when FORWARDING an email?

Thanks for your help.

PS: I can't just COPY and PASTE the body of the email into a new email form
because the security people need the entire email so they can see the
"internet headers", etc. for their investigation.

No, this ability was only added in Outlook 2007.

I use OLSpamCop (http://www.olspamcop.org/) for this; the Copy function
will copy the entire message source including headers, and I can then
paste it into a new plain-text message to forward. You can even use
OLSpamCop's forwarding function, which by default goes to SpamCop, but
it doesn't have to.

Another way would be to send the message(s) as an attachment to a new
message (Insert | Items).
Do you know of any work-around or patch, etc.

Thanks,

Another way would be to send the message(s) as an attachment to a new
message (Insert | Items).

Which really is what should have been done all along, since forwarding a
message would not maintain the original smtp headers which the security
people would need (or, at least, I've never found them).
