How do you print "page x of y" on the slides of a PowerPoint Pres.

This question is very simple, but yet no one can seem to answer it. I need
to find out how to print "page x of y" on each slide in a PowerPoint
presentation. Not on the handouts, but the actual slides. Example: If
there are 48 slides in a presentation, how do you automatically have the
presentation updated to read, at the bottom of each slide, "Page 2 of 48",
"Page 3 of 48", etc. If anyone knows the answer to the question, I would be
most appreciative.

Dear Mr. Marcovitz --

Thank you so much for your quick response. I wish I had posted this message
several weeks ago. No one in our company could find out how to do this, and
Microsoft wanted to charge me for support. So I appreciate your letting me
know that it is not a workable function in the PowerPoint program. I did try
to download the add-in that you recommended, but it came out as "scrambled"
text. So I'm not sure what went wrong. I sent an email to the author of the
program, in hopes that he can inform me of whatever I am doing incorrectly,
so I can have utilize this function. But in any event, again, many thanks
for your prompt, knowledgeable response.

I'm sure Bill will be able to help you. He often responds in this forum.
The file downloads as a ZIP file, so if you are running something earlier
than Windows XP, you will have to use a Zip program (like WinZip) to open
it.
