Outlook 2003-When I assign a folder to the "favorite folder" section on the
left colum of folders it will only stay a favorite until i restart
Outlook/the computer. How can I get the folder (say "outbox") to stay a
favorite?

Sounds like your Navigation Pane is corrupted. Start Outlook with the
/resetnavpane switch
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /resetnavpane

i created a new profile and it worked, but it still ends me up with 2
personal folders in the nav pane. one that has notnhing in it (first one with
one type of icon) and a second one that has all my data and a different kind
of icon. so i just reverted to the original profile...

Followed the instructions? It tells you how to change the default delivery
location. After this you can detacht the empty pst-file.
