How do i view pictures received in e-mails without opening them?

E-mails that were received in Express with attachments that were photographs
didn’t need to be opened or saved for me to view them but in Outlook I have
to open the picture to be able to see it.

That is really annoying and time consuming besides I can’t choose what
program to view it with like, Photoshop, it always picks Macromedia.

How can I see photos sent to me without having to use a secondary program?

You can change it in your system folder option / file types. You can simply
use Internet Explorer to open pictures.
