How Do I Uninstall Yahoo Address AutoComplete from My Add/Remove Li

M

Martin Cohen

I had uninstalled Yahoo messenger and its e-mail components without any
trouble, but when I click the button for Yahoo Address AutoComplete, the
page blinks and nothing happens. I went into safe mode and tried to
uninstall it from my add/remove list with no success. I reinstalled Yahoo
messenger using the custom setting as I did when I originally installed it.
Then I uninstalled Yahoo messenger and the e-mail components, but still
could not uninstall Yahoo Address AutoComplete. I went to the Registry
Editor with the help of Dell Hardware Support and clicked Ctrl and 'f' keys.
The find window appeared and I typed Yahoo. It highlighted a file, key, or
value?! I made a restore point, and then I deleted the registry key or
value?! It didn't work! I went to Windows Explorer and looked in the local
"C" disk under "program files" and deleted a yahoo folder. I re-booted to
my desktop and it still did not allow me to uninstall Yahoo Address
AutoComplete! Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Martin,
Probably not what you want to hear, but I've noticed some odd behavior with
Yahoo mail the last couple of days. Newsgroup posts also indicate problems
with various Yahoo features. I think you will just have to wait for Yahoo to
resolve this.

You may be able to disable autocomplete.

Robear, for goodness sake, would it have hurt to just copy and paste the
solution here for us!
Off to hunt down the darn answer to this question.

Would it have hurt Martin to crosspost one (1) message to both newsgroups
instead of posting individually to them multiple times?

Like you, I'm a volunteer. I answered his question once.

Download HijackThis v1.99.0 (
http://forum.aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.zip), close all browser,
messenger, mediaplayer, etc., windows and scan. Look for this entry:

O16 - DPF: {B9191F79-5613-4C76-AA2A-398534BB8999} (YAddBook Class) -
http://us.dl1.yimg.com/download.yahoo.com/dl/installs/suite/autocomplete.cab

Check it and have HijackThis "fix" it.

Sorry for the confusion that I caused in posting to separate groups. I
thought my question would get more exposure. I tried the highjack software,
found the entry PA Bear posted, and clicked fix on highjack. the entry was
deleted from the list on highjack and I rebooted. But no results when I
tried to remove the entry that is still on my add/remove list. Any
suggestions?

Hi,
I like Robear's solution a lot more than I like my non-solution, but...
What item are you trying to remove from add/remove programs?

And, from Internet Options> General> Temporary Internet Files> Settings>
View Objects, do you see "YAddBook Class?"
