How do I transfer files on an LPT1 connection?

This is probably going to seem like a really stupid
question but I can't figure it out. I am trying to
download a bunch of files from my laptop, running Windows
2000, to my PC, running XP, via a Travelling Software
LPT1 cable.

I've set up a Direct Connection (device name Direct
Parallel) on both computers and they are talking to each
other (Status shows they are sending bytes to each other
though I don't know what they're talking about- Janet
Jackson, maybe) and I've enabled File Sharing on the
directory that I want to transfer but neither shows up as
a Network Place on the other's Windows Explorer. So how
do I get the files to transfer?

TIA

Can you access the other PC through the UNC path? \\computername\sharename

Rob:

Thank you! That was my missing piece of information and
I have now managed to transfer the files. It was pretty
slow through the parallel connection though, so while I
have your attention, is it possible for me to do this
kind of transfer directly through the two computers' LAN
cards? Is there an article that you could point me to
that would walk me through the process of setting up the
connection? I tried just connecting them with a LAN
cable with the 1394 connection on my Network Connections
enabled (although firewalled) but it didn't seem to be
connecting.

Thanks again for your help in solving the problem.
