Can't find much with a google. I don't want to embed video with media player
because it's a fairly large file. How can I stream using FP2000 and I need
details. Thanks

That is not a function of any version of FP.

Why is Microsoft so behind the times? Do I have to ditch FP and get another maybe Dreamweaver and such? I can't believe there's no streaming ability in FP. Gawd, why did I buy it....

I think you're missing the point, there is no streaming for any of these
tools period. It's not a function of HTML, the browser, or tools such as FP
or Dreamweaver, it's a function of the file format used. For example: AVI is
not a streaming file format, WMA and WMV, and .RA (I forget the actual real
audio file extension) are.

To get true streaming you need a streaming media server. Microsoft has
streaming services available for Windows 2003 Server. RealNetworks also has
their own streaming server as well. You can get most of what you'll want
though with just the standard streaming file such as stop, play, pause.
Usually functions such as fast forward and chapters need a fully functional
streaming media server to implement though.

If you want the file to play, just link to it as opposed to embedding it.
Linking to it just like a web page will cause the browser to determine what
the appropriate player type is and launch it.

And to use a streaming media server your web host would have to offer it and
they probably charge extra for it.

You cannot. It is not a matter of FP vs Dreamweaver et al.
Web sites run on the HTTP protocal, and all content for the
page is located on a server, downloaded to the client, and
then the rendering can take place.

Media streaming is done via a media server, such as Helix,
Windows Media Server, Quicktime Streaming Server, or Darwin.
Not all hosts have streaming services available, and few
that do include it with your hosting package
