How do i see my contacts in the select contacts pane?

I open a new email and press the "To" button, the default view for the
"Select Address" pane that appears is to display my Global Address list in
the "Show names from the:" box. Before the reinstallation of outlook 2003 I
could click on the drop down box and select "Contacts" under Outlook Address
Book, however the "Contacts" option is no longer there and i cannot select
names from my outlook contacs to send an email to, any ideas?

Right click on your Contacts folder, choose Properties, go to the Outlook
Address Book tab. Make sure the "Show this folder as an email address book"
box is checked

A colleague of mine had a similar problem, only when i advised him of this
fix and he tried it the option to check the "show this folder as an email
address book" was not available (ie, shaded out) what do you think may be the
problem here?

He/She needs to add the Outlook Address Book service. In OL2002/2003 go to
the Tools menu > Email accounts > Add new address book / directory > Click
Next > Choose Additional Address Books > Click Next then follow the obvious
prompts
