How do I recover deleted items from an archive folder?

In the process of migrating to a new computer, I archived all of my e-mail
messages to a .pst file on my old computer, copied the file to the new
computer, and then went to File > Open .pst files. This brought up an
Archive folder in the folder tree. Then I copied the folders and messages
from the Archive folder to my regular Inbox folder. It also appeared to have
actually moved the folders and messages from the Archive folder to my Inbox
folder.

Now when I was viewing the list of messages that had been copied, I clicked
on one and hit Shift + Delete to delete that message, but instead it deleted
everything I had just copied (I guess I had not clicked on the message).
Nothing is showing under the Archive folder, nor under my Inbox folder. If I
go to the properties of the Archive folder, it says the folder size is 0 KB,
but Windows Explorer shows Archive.pst to be about 35 MB. It also shows
mailbox.pst to be about 35 MB (because I copied everything over). But it
doesn't show anything in Outlook itself. The data is still there, but I
can't seem to get to the messages or folders.

I ran scanpst.exe on both Archive.pst and mailbox.pst. On Archive it found
4 folders, and 0 items, but I can't see anything in the Outlook folder list
(except for Deleted Items under the archive folder). For Mailbox.pst it
found 16 folders and 4 items, but I can't see any of them in the folder list,
either.

Is there anything else I can do?
