Perhaps, I'm missing something, you scanned a picture in (rich) text format.
Seems like a mixed metaphor.

If you have scanned a text based document, using RTF, then the scanner
output should be Word readable, and was probably saved as a text based
document The file should have a name of <filename.rtf> or possibly as a word
document <filename.doc> or <filename.docx>. You will have to locate, open,
print the scanned document.

If you have scanned a composite document (a mix of text and graphics) then
the scanner output is probably in a picture format (jpg, gif, etc.) To print
the picture you will have to insert the picture into a word document.

If you scanned a graphics document (no text) or a photo, then the scanner
output will most probably be in a picture format (jpg, gif, etc.). Once
again, you will need to locate the scanner's output file, and then insert
into a word document in order to get a print out.
