How do I make attachments stop appearing as an icon in an e-mail?

For some reason, instead of appearing in the attachment bar at the top of the
e-mail message, attachments that I want to send are appearing in the body of
the e-mail. How do I restore it to being displayed at the top of the e-mail
again?

Change your default format from rich text to either plain text or HTML. Have
