How do I install .FON fonts as a system font?

Ok, I'm not sure if this is the right XP group, as I don't quite know
what
"embedded" refers to... I'm trying to use an .FON font as a screen
font to
speed up the display of text. Thing is, when I go into the Appearance
tab
to select such a font to use for menus etc, the .FON font (ie.
MODERN.FON) does not show up in the list of fonts there. They're
mostly TTF fonts, except for Courier (which is too ugly to use a
system font).

bob,

Look into the Fonts for XP in the TD .There are good exhibition of
certain fonts with reg resources and without them too.I think the
registeration of fonts are at
hklm\software\microsoft\windowsnt\currentversion\Fonts and look for
any if the ".fon" at Fonts:Small Fonts VGA res.Just look into how its
done there and replicate accordingly.
