How do I insert a coreldraw graphic in Word?

I appear to have the required filter in my Microsoft Common folder, but when
I use the insert from file option and select CorelDraw from the drop-down
menu I get an error message " An error occurred while importing this
file.........". Can anyone suggest a solution?

I have CorelDraw 3X, and I insert .cdr files into Word documents using the
Insert>Object method. Once the drawing is in Word I can right click on it,
select the CorelDraw option on the dialog box and then Edit, Open or
Convert. When I try to insert the .cdr as a Picture, I get the same error
message you are getting.

When I copy a .cdr image, I paste special, as a .wmf. Works every time. I found
if I am going to use a Corel image in an Office application, I'm better off
exporting the the picture as a .wmf or some other format.

Thanks all, but Word's own documentation states that providing the relevant
filter is loaded you should be able to insert a cdr the same as any other
image. The problem is that Microsoft's knowledge says that the filter covers
up to version 9 of CorelDraw and I am using version 10. I cannot find any
information about this version.

Over the years I have used every version of Corel starting with 3. In the later
versions when I tried to paste as a straight .cdr I would get the dreaded
C.A.R.M. dialog.
Paste special works with Corel 10.
